Vons in Catalina Island

Just like Safeway and you can use your Safeway card

So glad they built this store to replace the old mini vons in Avalon. Very nice with almost everything you need.

Visiting Catalina from Vallejo we'd shop at the old small Vons and the new Vons is a great upgrade. Back home we shop at their sister store Safeway and Vons carried exactly the same items, store was always clean and fully stocked.

I think this is the only grocery store on Catalina, so I don't know if reviews really matter. It is clean and the people are nice. They have everything you would expect at a grocery store. Soda is $9 a twelve-pack though.

Quite a nice supermarket. The place is clean, great amount of selection for an island, regardless how popular it may be.

Great store in Catalina. We cruise on Carnival to Catalina and we stop here drinks and snacks for room. This place has a saving cards so we still get the discount. The deli food is good. We usually get clam chowder and a sub sandwich. I like the Pastrami it is great and the roast beef is another sandwich but both very good. They keep this place very clean organized. It's short walk up away the pier. Make left away the beach but before Loyds soda shop.

It's a little pricey but a really cute all in 1 grocery store

Awesome and fresh products and not too expensive

It had everything I needed. Notoriously more expensive than other stores( Vons usually is) ..but that's to be expected being the Only store on the island; supply and demand. Clean. Employees were polite and available for assistance. Easy to get to in a centralized location. I'm here on a cruise stop so that's a plus!

This is the new location for Vons here in Avalon, having opened up in February. The market is much larger than the two previous locations. Vons did a great thing and kept all the staff :D ! Like any other Vons, this market has a large variety of produce, meats, dairy and dry goods. They have a well-stocked liquor and wine section. Staff are friendly and helpful as always.

Needed flowers for a friend in Avalon. Called Vons and spoke with Stacy in the floral department. She is amazing!! Stacy put together a beautiful arrangement and had it delivered....same day service.Stacy personally handled my order and went above and beyond to ensure that all went smoothly. She makes Vons a class act. Kudos to Stacy!!!

Perfect store to get anything you need, especially to eat when a lot of the restaurants around are closed.

Floral Department Stacey is amazing! There are no longer florists on the Island and we needed an arrangement for a memorial service. Vons to the rescue! We were so impressed upon arrival to the new store, especially the floral department. Her design exceeded my expectations and she is so professional!Give Stacey a call for any of your floral needs. We stayed on Catalina for 4 days including the new year and lugged the grocery back to our rental everyday like the locals. We enjoyed the walk and the daily task of grocery shopping but dislike how cram the store is. You can't have 2 shopping carts passing in the aisle at the same time and lining up to check out is a real pain. Can't wait for the new Vons to finish construction.

The remodel is beautiful. From outside it looks like a regular house in the residential area.

It carries good tasty hot soups ready to eat at the deli department (among other foods) !!🍲🍲🍲!!!

The Caucasian middle-aged lady at the deli counter (I didn't see a name tag on her) was very rude & had a sour attitude. She acted as if she really didn't want to be at her job. when I asked her if she had any meat alternatives she was very snappy and said no only the vegetarian sandwich which wasn't even listed on the menu and they charge full price for that. she wasn't even willing to give me extra cheese or cucumber since I chose not to get meat, overall it was a really bad experience especially for Vons.

They have good prices for what you pay normally at a vons not on a island. However, it's an island so there is not much of a selection but enough to keep most satisfied. I gave it 4 stars because of price comparison and enough selection to keep most satisfied.

They really know how to pack in the items here. It's the narrowest aisles you'll find at any California grocery store, but that comes with the territory of being on the island. Great selection given the space. Cashiers are always friendly. They'll keep a Von's Club card to scan if you don't have your own so that you are not overcharged. Nice place.

I live on the island near Two Harbors. It's a pleasure to have Vons available in Avalon, I go with a list from all who know I'm going! Haha. Their chicken wings are great as well. That's always on my list!

Only place to get grocery And is good

This unassuming little store was a welcome surprise! It has everything you need and at refreshingly low prices! We were able to get all of our groceries here and they carried everything we hoped to find. The only thing we didn’t prepare for was buying our grocery bags. But since we are from out-of-state, we didn’t know that was the norm. But now we do! We loved doing our shopping here and look forward to our next visit! (Maybe by then they will offer golf cart rides back to your hotel! Haha!)

If you are staying in Catalina, this is a great place to get some of your meals between activities. Their deli has an EXCELLENT assortment of hot foods and the booze selection here is stunning. Had some of their roasted chicken and broccoli & cheese soup for lunch before one of our hikes and that food kept us filled until we got back later in the evening. Service here was friendly and helpful, lines always moved at a decent pace despite being the only supermarket on the island.

This new VONS building and location is one of the best improvements in Avalon. Now if they could only keep all the dogs out of the store that he locals and wealthy yachters feel entitled to walk in with. (Health Code Violation). I would give it 4 stars but the self checkout broke every time we were in there.

Kudos for staying open on July 4th, 2019 and dealing with hordes of tourists. Probably the best place in Avalon to buy reasonably priced food.
